Chunyan He, ScD

Associate Professor, Epidemiology

Dr. Chunyan He is an Associate Professor in the Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health and a member of the IU Simon Cancer Center.  She joined the Indiana University School of Medicine in 2009.  She received a Masters Degree in Molecular Biology from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a Doctorate of Science Degree in Epidemiology from the Harvard School of Public Health.
Dr. He’s research interests are cancer epidemiology, as well as, molecular and genetic epidemiology.  She is particularly interested in genetic susceptibility of breast cancer and skin cancer.  These research interests include identifying common genetic variants associated with cancer risk through both genome-wide association study (GWAS) and candidate gene approach, and understanding how these genetic variants interact with environmental and lifestyle factors in cancer etiology and prevention.
Her current research focuses on linking GWAS data to gene-expression profiling data for a better understanding of the underlying biological mechanisms. Dr. He is also an active member of the CHARGE GWAS consortia, where she collaborates with other investigators on multiple research projects related to reproductive aging and plasma sex hormone levels.
